KUSUDO & WORTH - Of Sun and Rain (Slipstream) CD

Originally released on Custom Fidelity Records in December 1968 in an edition of 200 copies, Of Sun and Rain was the work of two high school students from Riverside, California, Ken Kusudo and Jeff Worth, with help from their songwriting partner Richard Kreib. Everything about Of Sun & Rain is just right, from the stark cover design featuring a full-frame monochrome shot of the two suede and denim-clad teenagers posed nonchalantly on the porch of a dilapidated Victorian house, to the music itself: 10 haunting, beautifully-nuanced acoustic folk songs influenced by Donovan, Tim Buckley and Simon & Garfunkel yet resonating with a youthful innocence and sincerity of their own -- original compositions like the delicately melodic "Elizabeth," the tender love song "For You," the strikingly poetic "Song to a Pelican" and "Mill Valley Woodlands," and the extraordinary "I Would Like to Hear Your Story," which soars into psychedelic territory with its swooping slide guitar glissandos, building to a thrilling crescendo.

This expanded CD reissue includes three excellent bonus tracks and a 32-page booklet with rare photos and in-depth liner notes by Jason Smith.
